StopGap Ramp Program
The Mayors Accessibility Advisory Committee is working to improve barrier-free access to local businesses by partnering with the StopGap Program.
The StopGap Ramp Program is an initiative that improves accessibility by providing portable ramps to businesses to eliminate single-step barriers at storefronts. These ramps support greater inclusion by helping individuals who use mobility devices, as well as those with strollers or other accessibility needs, access local businesses more easily.
Complete the application below to be considered for a StopGap ramp for your business. Once submitted, your information will be reviewed, and successful applicants will be contacted to finalize participation before a custom ramp is created and delivered.
Business Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the program, businesses must meet the following conditions:
- Be located within the City of Niagara Falls
- Have a single-step entrance (typically between 2 and 7 inches in height) at the main public entrance
- Have adequate space to safely position and use the ramp
- If the property is leased, confirmation must be provided that the property owner does not object to the installation and use of the ramp
- Provide clear photos and measurements of the entrance as part of the application
- Agree to sign a participation agreement for the use of the ramp between StopGap Foundation and the business owner
- Provide proof of at least $2 million in liability insurance
These requirements help ensure the ramps are used safely and appropriately within the program.
StopGap Ramp Application
Funding for free ramps is limited and eligible businesses will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis and will be subject to review by the Mayors Accessibility Advisory Committee. Additional ramps may be available for minimal charge.
